APA Citations and References
The creation of new knowledge requires conducting research that builds on accumulated knowledge and current information, with the aim of avoiding the repetition of previous projects and proposing original ideas. This situation implies establishing academic policies that promote the correct and responsible use of in-text citations and the creation of a reference list. Failing to acknowledge sources through citations and references constitutes the appropriation of another person’s knowledge and is considered academic plagiarism.
In this regard, the National Academy of Political and Strategic Studies (ANEPE) adheres to the use of the American Psychological Association (APA) guidelines as its official citation and referencing policy, with the goal of guiding students in the development of their work, and providing orientation to academics, researchers, and community members or external contributors who wish to publish, thereby preventing plagiarism and self-plagiarism.
The Journal aligns with ANEPE’s procedures to ensure, through the dissemination of clear rules and procedures (such as APA 7), the originality and academic value of the content published in Política y Estrategia. Accordingly, all those who wish to publish in our Journal are strongly encouraged to carefully follow the most recent edition of the APA citation and referencing standards.
To facilitate its application, ANEPE has developed a summary guide providing guidelines for the use of APA 7th edition, which can be obtained at:
APA 7th Edition Summary Guide.
Likewise, to explore the standard in more depth, it can be accessed through its official website:
APA 7th Edition – Official Guide.
As a recommendation, authors are encouraged to ensure that their bibliography is up to date with respect to the state of the issue under study, relevant and pertinent, and ideally includes publications indexed in major databases or repositories such as Scopus, WOS, or Scielo.
