• All submitted manuscripts will first be reviewed by the editor to verify compliance with the journal’s editorial policy.
• If this requirement is met, they will be evaluated by peer reviewers with recognized expertise in the subject areas addressed by the journal, under the “double-blind peer review” system (also known as blind reviewers or referees), involving two reviewers.
• In simple terms, the double-blind peer review system means that neither reviewers know the author’s name nor the author knows the reviewers’ identities, and reviewers do not know each other. This requires strict confidentiality by the editorial board, executive director, editor, technical secretary, blind reviewers, and authors.
• Blind reviewers will rigorously evaluate the manuscripts, providing a well-founded opinion on substantive aspects —such as scientific interest, originality, timeliness, objectives, and sources used— and formal aspects —such as proper citation, spelling, writing, and compliance with formatting requirements.
• At the end of the process, they will grade each article as excellent, very good, good, fair, or poor, and recommend: a) acceptance; b) acceptance with formal modifications; c) acceptance with substantive modifications; or d) rejection.
• Once the peer review reports are received, the editor will interact with the authors to address any issues within the established deadlines or inform them of acceptance without comments or of rejection, as appropriate.
• Accepted and revised manuscripts will then be submitted to the Editorial Board, whose members will decide whether or not to publish them, and may issue further observations as final arbiters. Manuscripts not approved will be returned to their authors.
• Finally, in the last stage of the editorial process, the Technical Secretariat will conduct a language, spelling, and style review, so the interaction with authors of accepted manuscripts will continue until the end of the process.
• Manuscripts that have been positively evaluated but require more time for revisions may be scheduled for publication in the following issue.
